Blog that’s a Freebie Search Engine

As you’ve noticed, I love technology. Heidi does too & she does a great job of making it work. I tend to stand back & be amazed & that is the case with this!

This morning I saw Maria’s link to her blog, DigiFree, The Search Engine Her blog is a list of links to freebies & she has technology creating it for her.

Maria works with artificial intelligence & has put her skills to use helping digiscrappers. I always like to know how things work & she explains on her blog -

This blog is dynamically constructed by a computer program. You can think of it as an automated search engine for digital scrapbooking blogs. The program works by going through a list of blogs that I have found and it scans those blogs to identify (1) if they have been updated since I last looked and (2) if they contain any freebies. If both of these are true, then the system flags the blog entry as one that I might want to look at and lists it here. So I don’t have to do this myself. It also keeps a lookout for new blogs that are mentioned (but this is limited otherwise every blog in existence would eventually be listed here!

Dynamically means that it’s always changing & finding new ones.

And she puts stat’s up for those of us that love them!

    • In total, 1020 digital freebie sites were analysed to create this post.
    • I found 70 freebies in 62 blogs since the last post

I know that most of the ladies creating the lists are doing it by hand. So isn’t this cool? Thank you Maria for putting your skills to work to save digiscrappers time!

We have a number of blogs listing freebies on the right.  And keeping track of them is easy if you use a Blog Reader.

Do you know of blogs offering lists of freebies?

Wonder how powerful ACDSee Photo Editor is?

Want to see it in action? Here you can watch a video on how to use masks to do templates: Using Masks with PSD Template files

Oh, and on this link there is a free template for you and coupon for any of Ronee Parson’s templates in her store. Here is a link to Ronee’s latest template set.

Connie and I also provide a pdf tutorial on using PSD templates and that technique is a little different. I like this technique for paper or things that don’t need to be inserted precisely. I like using the technique in the video above for inserting photos into templates, where you want to place it precisely.

Interested in trying or buying ACDSee Photo Editor? ACDSee has now reduced the regular price on ACDSee Photo Editor to $49.99 and if you already own ACDSee PhotoManager the price is $34.99. Click to take you ACDSee’s website for the trial or option to buy Photo Editor.

Another Blog offering Free Scrapbooking things

Today I received an email from Happy Scrap Girl asking me if I’d link to her blog here. Of course I will!

People love these kinds of links. Heidi has already added Happy Scrap Girl’s blog to our blog roll.

She has a daily list of freebies. So enjoy!

    Other News -

Happy Scrap Girl included a nice note thanking us for the information we share. And I want to take a couple of minutes to comment on that. Our digital community is such a warm & welcoming place because of all the people that are willing to share their time & talents with each other! It is SO gratifying to share resources & get positive feedback. So to Hummie, Maggie, Christine & all of you who have supported us – a huge THANK you! This has really turned into a fun adventure.

Heidi & I foresaw a need & we are glad to be able to fill part of that. Sometimes I worry that I talk too much about marketing tips & people are looking for scrapbooking tips. (This happens when I see people unsubscribing… ) But we do try to provide information that makes your digiscrapping life easier. It may not necessarily improve your style! But maybe we’re more about the tools – the computers, external hard drives, software, and internet resources to make your life easier.

A quick note about our forum, Heidi mentioned something that I’ve been thinking about too.  And that is that the busiest area of our forum is at the bottom.  I’m going to move it up so it’s more convenient (and hopefully not break anything while doing it!).   So don’t get lost the next time you go into our forum – ok?!

In the next couple of days I need to help Heidi finish setting up newsletter software. I’m VERY excited to be able to send out newsletters with images, colored backgrounds & links that look prettier than the mass emailings I’ve been doing. We have the ability to create newsletters on different themes, so I need to decide if I should continue to run it all together, or should they be themed, like marketing, ACDSee tips, general hardware & software? What do you think?

Ellie’s Treasures is filled with great Scrapbooking links!

Tonite Heidi & I worked on some things.  She has something exciting coming, but that’s all I can say.  She’ll be asking for your input once it’s ready!

Then we were talking about people coming over from Ellie’s Treasures, so I added it to our blogroll.  I was looking around at what she has there – it’s amazing!!!  Let me give you a quick tour:

Scrapbooking tutorials, blogs, sites with freebies,  forums

    Paint Shop Pro tutorials

    PSP Tubes & Masks

PSP Foreign Tutorials – Dutch, English, French, German

Photo Impact – English & foreign languages

Photoshop/Elements Tutorials – English, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, German, French, Italian

     Groups/Forums

And if you’re wondering why I listed the languages, it’s because Google Analytics tells me that we have people visiting our site from 46 countries!  And ACDSee products are offered in English, French, German, and Dutch.

And, sadly I had to remove the link to the Iron Orchid Designs blog.  :(   I miss the spirited chats with those girls!  But the blog hadn’t been updated since December.  They are designing for a paper company & are involved with DST’s newsletter, so you can catch them there.  But I always loved their photo – so I’m posting it here.  Isn’t it just the best?  (*hint, hint Heidi!* can you guys help me convince my sister that we need a photo of us together?)

Shape Templates are a digiscrapper’s best friend!

And I’m not talking about layered templates – I’m referring to shapes. I have found that shape templates offer a scrapper so much flexibility!

You can take a shape & cut any kind of paper out of it. They are SO versatile! Long ago I started collecting them. First I started with borders, then I found Karin McCombes swirly shape templates… and there was no stopping… Now I buy them when I see something interesting. Today I added to my collection – this afternoon I bought Jen Caputo’s new circle shapes with decorative borders. Others that make great shape templates are: Eva Kipler, Karen Hunt at SBB has some great edgers, Karin McCombes (Kazadoodles) has some that she calls templastic, Michelle Coleman has Decorative Edges 2 that consist of a template & a lace overlay that are VERY beautiful & decorative providing an old world touch to layouts, and Tracy Ann at SBB has a cardstock set with some wonderful borders that could be used as shape templates.

Then tonite Pillowgirl has a nice set of shapes on her blog which are generously free! So I just had to blog about shape templates!

Here are couple of layouts that I’ve done with shape templates. The border template on this one is by Rikki.

This is Michelle Coleman’s Decorative Edges 2
