Thrilled with Lulu Journal Book
A close friend of mine just had her first child. Neither of us are traditional pastel colored type people and she wasn’t interested in the typical baby book. My gift to her will be baby’s album done digitally, the album will be more of "remember those moments" type of book rather than their first food, first step, etc. type of book. But to get there, I wanted a place for her to journal her thoughts and memories and place her photos, which I can then use to create a baby book for her. So I created a baby’s first year journal to give as a gift now. The first page has a few of the traditional facts to fill out but after that its places to write. For each month, I provide different journaling prompts (something to write about) and photo ideas (different ideas/poses to take photos of.)
I am very happy with how the book turned out. I printed at Lulu and was very excited at the quality and price. This isn’t one of their "photo books" but one of their normal books printed with all digital layouts (images.)
Here’s how it turned out:
Last night, I handed it to my husband and said I got my present for my friend. He took a quick glance at it and said that’s nice. I gave him a "look" and asked aren’t you even going to look at it? He looked down at it and realized his mistake and replied, "You made this? I thought you had just went and bought it for her." No, no, I didn’t.

Feb 1, 2008 - 12:02:23Amazing job on this book. What a cool idea!
This looks totally awesome. I didn’t know that Lulu made spiral bound books, too. What is the paper like? Is it paper which is easy to write on? Thanks.
The interior paper is describe on Lulu’s site as “white interior paper (80# weight)”
I think it will be easy to write on with a ball point pen. It’s not glossy or photo like paper but the image quality is excellent.
