Oct 2, 2007 - 01:10:47Update sounds good! Any word on whether this version supports burning multi-session disks? That’s the feature I would like to see!
Also, I’m confused by the discounts and coupons. There is a 30% discount for upgrading and a 25% off coupon. Can you use both of these together? Otherwise, why would I want to save only 25%?
If you have never bought an ACDSee Photo Manager, use the 25% off regular price (25% off $49.99.)
If you own a previous version of ACDSee Photo Manager, use the 30% off the update price (30% off $34.99)
And no, it doesn’t support multi-session disks.
Thanks, Heidi, for the info and coupons.
Just wanted to say that I love your blog and tutorials – so much so that I’ve just downloaded the trial version of ACDSee Photo Manager.
BUT – now that Im in the middle of the cataloging process I think I’ve probably gone about it the wrong way. I marked my photos folders and my digital folders and to be honest, I think sorting them is going to be too big a job for me. Should I have just done my digital files first and then taken the photo folders one by one?
Any tips for making this a smooth transition??
Thanks so much.
Michele
Hi Michelle,
We have two things that may help you – the pre-made categories can be imported & gets you started quickly: http://www.digiscrapinfo.com/dsiwiki/OrganizingStyles
and we also have information on organizing your photos: http://www.digiscrapinfo.com/phpmyfaq/10_32_en.html
And thanks for the compliments on our site! Heidi & I have invested a lot of time in it, so we always appreciate hearing that people are enjoying it.
Michelle,
Yes, I would recommend starting with your digital folders first. When you finish that up, then do the photos. Also, when you do your digital folders, just start with organizing the preview. Then decided how detailed you want to organize your folders.
Organizing your digital kits is kind of like organizing your closet. Most people make the mistake of pulling everything out of the closet and sorting each box (creating a mess and huge job.) It’s better to pull one box out at a time and keep it managable.
Heidi, I installed the new version and it seems that it did not install over the old one, but now I’ve got both. Can I safely de-install version 9 and version 10 will still be functioning? Thanks!
Hi,
Not sure if you saw but I left a question for you at Scrapbook Dimensions forum. Will the photo manager slow down my computer much? Right now I keep most of my photos on an external hard drive. Will it keep a copy of all photos and digi kits on the regular drive too?
I’m been wanting to get it for months. Maybe now.
Julie Ann
P.S. I need a photo of you for the blog to show you as the Guest CT.
Me again,
. I started v. 10, all my categories are there, but no files appear once I click on a category. As if nothing was tagged. I tried to restore the database from my last backup but I get an error message that it is an invalid file. Do I need to do something specific. I did this database optimization and import at the beginning of the installation. Can you help? Thanks!
Hi Rikki,
I was just in the process of getting this information out. You are fast!
Look this over:

Can you let me know where things might have gone wrong. Don’t worry your ACDSee 9 is still there and we will get you up and going.
Heidi
I have a tutorial request. I’d love to figure out how to set up ACDSee to send photos via email using Gmail. I’ve tried every configuration I can think of, and I can’t get it to work. ACDSee keeps saying it needs STARTTLS but I can’t figure out how to do that. Thanks!
Once I’ve installed version 10 and did the database thing can I safely uninstall 9?
I’m trying to figure something out and I’m confused. Can ACD 10 organize from a portable EHD? If so does that mean I can remove everything from my laptop for more space and just use the EHD? Do I keep the ACD program on my laptop or put it on the EHD? If I already have a lot organized on the lap top do I have to redo it on the EHD? I hope I’m not too confusing. Thanks for your time.
Hi Jennifer,
You need to run ACD 10 on your computer. But yes you can move all of your kits on the ehd & the database too.
If you have organized items on your laptop, then open ACDSee & move things inside of ACDSee to your EHD & things should be fine.
I just upgraded to 10 from 8. I am unable to import my database and preserve my previous tags.
I also have tried to import the database you have shared for organizing in ver 9 , but it wont import either.
Help…..Please.

Boy I am sure glad I came to see the new features- what a bonus that there was a working coupon so that I can upgrade for even less. I can’t wait to try the unzipping feature! Thanks for all you do in keeping us informed and trained!
Can I organize my pics and digi kits on two different computers using an EHD?
Right now ACDSee is installed on my home computer. I would like to copy everything to my EHD then bring my EHD to work and start tagging and organizing on my breaks. Then take it all back home on the EHD and sync to home so that my EHD and home are identical.
Is this possible?
Thanks,
Molly
