Keeping Credits with ACDSee Photo Manager
I will provide 2 methods of keeping
track of credits. The first method using the Image Basket works well
if you finish your layout in one sitting. The reason being is that
once you close Photo Manager, the Image Basket empties itself. If
you do not finish your layout in one sitting or you want to ability
to produce a file listing later, then continue on and use Favorites.
Image Basket
For either method, I would suggest always starting with
the Image Basket.
-
Go to View
| Image Basket to make your image basket visible. For any images you want to use
in your layout, place them in your image basket.
-
If you haven't
already done so, select all your images and send them to your editor
to create your layout. If you add more elements or paper, add them
as you need to.
-
Once done with your
layout and you want to create credits file. Select all your images
in the image basket.
-
Generate
a file listing:
-
Go to Database
-> Export -> Generate File List (or Ctrl - G) and this text file should open.
-
This is the text file it creates:
-
You can now save this as text file with your layout.
-
If yours appears with a lot of different things, see how to
customize your file listings below.
Using Favorites
Once you create a Favorite shortcut
as described here, if you move your digital kits (from within or
outside of ACDSee) your favorites shortcuts will not follow and you
will lose the link. So try not move your digital kits around too much
after you have assigned the shortcuts and you can avoid this.
-
Select all images in your image
basket or that you used in a layout, right click and choose Add
to Favorites.
-
To see your Favorites Pane, use
View | Favorites. You
should see all your images listed here, like this:
-
Right
click on Favorites and select New | Folder and
create a new folder with the name of it being your layout.
-
Select the individual images showing when you click on
favorites (really shortcuts) and move them all into the folder that
you just created.
-
Now, whenever you want, browse to your layout folder in your
Favorites, select all images, and do Ctrl-G to generate a file list.
Using Favorites with a video
This video will show you how to use ACDSee Photo Manager to keep track
of images used in a layout so that you can properly credit the
designers when you publish or post a layout.

Deleting Favorites
After you created a file list you can delete the files &
folders in favorites. These are really just shortcuts to your images
and you are not deleting your images. The way you can tell they are
shortcuts is they have a little arrow in the bottom left corner.
I don't like the feel of deleting favorites because it feels like
you are deleting the images. But assuming you are in Favorites, look
for the little arrows to identify shortcuts, then it is safe to
delete favorites.
Customizing
your file listing
For this to work, you need to have entered in the kit name in the
caption box & designer name into the author box.
-
Under Tools | Options,
-
Click on the File List,
-
Click on Detail View
-
Click on Choose Details. That will bring you
to this screen:
-
Expand on ACD Database
-
Click on the Caption & Author Box
-
Click on Add ->.
-
Click on anything in the right column you do not want and
click on Remove.
-
Select anything in the right column and you can change order
by using Move Up or Move
Down.
-
Click OK, and OK
Now, any properties listed on the right side will be exported
when you do a generate file listing. Feel free to customize the
file listing to whatever you like.
